Electricity Alliance - East

The National Grid has awarded a £2.5 billion five year renewals program to upgrade and develop the electricity transmission network across England and Wales. This is the largest ever Alliance contract for the National Grid and represents a significant part of the National Grid’s planned investment to maintain safe and secure energy supplies to the UK. The Electricity Alliance - East (EAE) is responsible for overhead line and cable renewals for the east side of the Grid.

The EAE is using WasteAccountnt.com to demonstrate sustainable waste management practices throughout its renewals program.

Due to the transient nature of electricity renewals, EAE rely heavily on the supply chain in the region that they are operating to achieve the highest recycling percentages for the materials generated by the renewals work. A waste supplier will be chosen based on their recycling capabilities and WasteAccountant.com is used to manage all other waste management processes from procurement to payment. The EAE operates an ISO 14001 certified environmental management system (EMS) and WasteAccountant.com is an excellent tool to support this EMS.

EAE use MTS Environmental Ltd site waste managment plans (SWMP) and have set ambitious recycling performance targets. Site managment teams use WasteAccountant.com to ensure that they always meet corporate environmental performance targets.

EAE believe that by using WasteAccountant.com in tandem with their comprehensive EMS they are in a good position to achieve WRAP's construction industry target of 'Halving Waste to Landfill'.
